Pterosaur tooth: Siroccopteryx moroccensis

Cretaceous (100 m.y.o.)
South of Taouz
Moroccan Sahara

Pterosaur (flying reptile) tooth,
1 5/8" long, on small fragment of matrix. This tooth most likely belonged to an Anhanguerid, Siroccopteryx, the only named genus from Africa. These narrow curved teeth were probably used to catch fish. Similar teeth are also found in the Cretaceous of Brazil. Excellent condition!
