Occipital spine from a primitive freshwater shark, 3 1/4" long, on matrix, 5" x 3".   Xenacanthus grew to lengths of up to 3 feet and was characterized by this unusual spine, which protruded from the back of its head. Spine is 100% complete, with very good detail. Some repairs, but no restoration. Wonderful representation of the species! A "must" for the fossil shark collector!
